In anticipation of the new Catch 22 series we aerial coordinated here is our Top 5 World War Two Productions we’ve worked on.

Valkyrie

Very few people know about the time when Hitler and his Nazi officers stepped disembarked from our aircraft to meet Major General von Tresckow at the German Eastern front. Fortunately, the fuhrer was played by David Bamber and he was meeting Kenneth Branagh in a scene of David Singer’s blockbuster World War Two film Valkyrie, which portrays the attempt by renegade Nazi generals (Tom Cruise, Kenneth Branagh, Terence Stamp, Eddie Izzard and others) to assassinate Hitler by smuggling a bomb on board the fuhrer’s personal plane. Aces High sourced, decorated and co-ordinated numerous aircraft featured in the film including Luftwaffe Junkers JU 52, Messerschmitt BF 109s and an 108.

Band of brothers

Band of Brothers

Aces High was proud to feature it’s aircraft performing synchronised sorties and dodging German artillery in the critically-acclaimed American war drama miniseries Band of Brothers. The Douglas DC 3/C 47, one of the world’s longest-used airliners, was provided for one of the series’ most thrilling scenes when the 506th Parachute Infantry Regiment’s Easy Company perform a daring jump into Normandy, behind enemy lines in occupied Europe.

Monuments Men

As part of our regular collaboration with George Clooney, his story of the greatest treasure hunt in history was a pleasure to work on. To assist the Allies in bravely capturing important artefacts from Nazi hands, we provided a range of aircraft including; Supermarine Spitfires, a Boeing B17 Flying Fortress (also scene in Memphis Belle), two Douglas C47s and a de Havilland Tiger Moth.

Red Tails

A quarter of a century in the making, George Lucas’ aerial epic Red Tails showcased Aces High’s roll call of P-51 mustangs. DC 3s, Curtiss P 40 Warhawks and Boeing B-47 Flying Fortresses. Cockpits and whole planes were mocked up to portray the dogfights between the Germans and the impressive Tuskegee airmen.

Memphis Belle

The story of how the Memphis Belle, a Boeing B-17 Flying Fortress, flew its 25th and final bombing mission over Germany in 1943 is a tale that lives in infamy. Matthew Modine, Billy Zane and Sean Astin star in the 1990 hit for which Aces High helped painstakingly source and recreate the aircraft and fuselages that battled over hostile European skies. We also supplied our own WW2 B25 air-to-air camera.
